Falling
Falling in love is being stranded in the vast ocean waters,
Drowning.
Surrounded by the cold water, your body getting numb.
You’re scared, scared of all the waves, waves of emotions engulfing you into their nothingness,
The immensity, almost too much to bear
You fight for a breath as you feel everything and nothing all at once.
Some days you swim happily with the fish
Other days you shiver, harsh winds blowing you from every direction
But inside, you’re warm, warm from the rays of sun gently streaming across your fragile soul
You’re vulnerable now.
Vulnerable to all the pain and happiness this love can fill you with
You hold onto it, clinging for survival
Knowing that this feeling is both what’s keeping you alive and what’s capable of killing you
Until finally, you let it fill you
You let it flow into your lungs, into every cell of your body
And in that moment, a part of you dies, yet you feel more alive than ever before.
