Alive
I let the rain soak my face
That night,
Drop upon drop,
Happiness for one sweet second.
The grass would grow,
The trees roots would sturdy,
But the rain was mine
That night.
Mine from where the clouds
Poured silver droplets
From cotton homes,
Mine from where water
Fell, marbles echoing on
Hard floor. It wrapped,
Enfolded, surrounded me.
I smiled and let
A laugh like music
Pour from my lips. I was
Alive and it felt wonderful.

I chose to write this poem because I wanted to stress the importance of nature, and to inspire people to cherish it more than humankind does right now.
