Moon and Star

Once upon a time
the passionate moon
met a somber star
Sliding into the safe silence of night
they exchanged secrets
until the sun's rays took over the sky
awaiting their next reunion
Each time twilight arrived
star shared in moon's spirit
and grew less distant
The moon was persistent
in keeping star's sadness inexistent
for she had grown fond of his company
and hoped star had found happiness
Though the sky kept them apart
In her heart moon knew
that she would chose this one star
over all in the heavens
