Favorite Quote:
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I know you are with me

Do men forget that it was a woman’s hips that brought them to this world,

Or do they remember when their fist connects to a woman’s cheek,
When he forces her not to speak?

Do men forget that it was woman’s fingers that brushed away their tears,
Or do they remember when they star in a woman’s nightly fears,
When he fills her head with obscenities and cruel jeers?

Do men forget that it was a woman’s love who lifted him up,
Or do they remember when they tell a woman to “shut the hell up,”
When he pushes her down until there’s no such thing as up?

Do men forget that it was a woman who sacrificed for him first,
Or do they remember when they look to another woman to quench their thirst,
When he stumbles home to her bed with lipstick printed to the collar of his shirt?

Men don’t forget because a woman’s hips were his first bridge to the world,
Men don’t forget because a woman’s fingers are woven in his dreams,
Men don’t forget because a woman’s love was the first thing he felt,
Men don’t forget because a woman’s sacrifice was his first memory.

My mother was the one who told me, "I think men forget that they came from a woman." For a long time this has been in my mind and it came out as this poem.
