Falling in Love with a Memory

You rescued me from my darkest clouds,

And showed me my inner light,

You filled every room with a glow,

And my heart with a raging inferno

Why would you choose me out of many?

Who am I to be before such radiant beauty?

Why do you drown my mind in ecstasy?

Who am I to have that care free, pure, happiest smiles of life?

Today, I lost my photos of those warm winter days,

But they are more sharp in my mind than ever,

I call you my friend,

know you as my friend,

And care for you as my dear, dear friend,

I go through the motions of friendship as long as we walk on this same path,

However too soon college will come for you,

And our paths will go separate ways,

It is on this path of solitude that my mind is clear,

The inhibitions of our structured lives behind us,

I look upon the flowers, streams, and trees,

And my mind settles comfortably, warmly on you,

You.

My warmth,
My heart,

Perhaps even My love...

Fifty years from now,

I will not remember where we were,

Or why we were,

But that Salam, that inner peace,

That, I will remember.

That, I will take to my grave.

You are beautiful,

Beautiful more than I could possibly ever say,

I will miss you,

But I will not forget you,

And that spark you gave me,

In the winter of 2016
