Monsters
The evergreen monsters loom above me
I trudge along, the cold white snow climbing my sneakers
My breath escapes in a puff
I know what I did
But these demons don’t help
They pull the truth
Out of my chattering teeth
Their green tops leisurely lean towards me
Whispering,
judging.
No control!
My shoes start to fly
The white powder clings,
trying to hold on to me
But
oh no
I’m not staying.
The truth
is safe with me.
These monsters can’t break me.
