Ant Farm
Here I sit in a bright dull box
The sun shines outside
I am not alone
A pawn stands tall five days a week
It says words too meaningless to hear
The kings and queens say from afar
The words are the key to sunshine
How would they know
They aren’t here.
to become a pawn is easy
to become royal is hard
To walk in true sunshine is against the law.
I go to leave the box
The pawn blocks my way
It thinks it’s helping me.
And so I sit in the bright dull box
Hearing hollow words
no purpose, no use
Only to trap me here
to become the pawn.
to say the meaningless words to the next.
