Summer
Sun shining in the air
Clear, blue skies everywhere.
Kids running up and down the sidewalk,
Coloring with their decorative chalk.
Long car rides to the beach
We can’t wait to finally reach
The sand and the salty water,
Even the air that’s getting hotter.
Waves crashing on the shore
Kids constantly wanting more.
Burying each other in the sand
Poking each other with their hands.
Kites are flying in the sky
Look at how high they fly.
Picnics at the park
With the dogs that always have to bark.
Ice cream cones melting in the hot sun
All the kids having so much fun.
School is coming soon
That means no more waking up at noon.
Summer is always a blast
But always goes by so fast.
Back to school they always say
But we just want summer to stay.
We all hate to say it
But it’s finally time to have to sit,
In the classroom day after day
And dreaming of being back at the bay.
