The Key
you stand there
the new adventures
the possibilities that are endless
you pack your bags
so delicately
because you don’t want to forget
you hope for the best
safety and joy
the hardest is departing
it’s hard to fit all of your dreams into thought
similar to your items
they won’t all fit in one bag
you grab your ticket
not the ticket to the airplane
the ticket to a new land that you will discover soon
you put in your headphones
as if the whole world underneath you
can hear the music as well
you see the clouds
like banks full of old memories
from airplane rides of when you were young
you arrive, so slowly
and you think about the day ahead
and the next, and the next
but then you realize you forget something
beautiful and special
a key
but not a key to a car, or a house
a key that engages your imagination
go find it
