Back a hundred years—a thousand
and go back to a time when I could look
up at the flickering sky and see Cassiopeia on
any given night.
Back a hundred years—a thousand
and go to a time when I could dance,
and laugh,
and paint,
and not proceed to weep.

This piece was inspired by a challenge, in which I was supposed to craft a second universe and explain my role in it in fifty words. The second universe I live in is that of the past, when times were not soiled by industry and sorrow.
