A Boat that is Safer than the Land
Children are put onto boats that are somehow safer than the land.
Some leave their loved ones behind forever.
Whether or not they’ll make it is unknown and often unlikely.
What happens when they arrive?
Their clothes are torn apart much like their families.
Where will they sleep tonight? “That’s not my problem” says a well off family.
Will they be blamed for an already poor economy? Yes.
Will they be harassed at school and in the streets? Yes.
Will they live in certain poverty and hardship? Yes.
At least they won’t be bombed or stolen away in the night, because somehow, despite all they will face here, a boat is safer than the land.
