Future
Kel's eyes are like a road,
looking into the distance, but not
quite seeing the future.
Though as I sit here
in El Paso, my present
is tainted green with
a hint of worry.
The sky glows dark
as my mouth burns cold
with the heat of unsaid words.
Roger's snores fill the musty
air with ideas no one else
will understand, yet since
I'm 16E I'm supposed to
comprehend a language
that has never been spoken.
A girl who's flown ocean over ocean
only searches for the right place
to land.
Where waterfalls sing,
and she wakes up knowing
that today will be something special.
Keine Ahnung she'll say to
whoever appears flabbergasted
by her lack of plans, ut
long list of now.
She'll climb on her mountain and yell,
To you my future my smell crazed,
but to me my future stands in the distance
with the now telling me to wait.
