I Call You Dad
I know it is hard,
not from experience, but you told me.
And I trust you,
it's hard.
Yet you keep trying.
You are a tiny steam boat,
padding up a raging river,
to bring your payload, me,
to success.
And for that,
I love you.
You are my blankey,
you cover me up when I am cold,
you smother me with love.
All the while knowing that one day,
one day, I will throw you away,
forget you.
One day, you will wither away
and, and , die....
Just know,
despite what I might say or
how I may act, I will always love you.
You were never like the others,
we never played ball together
or watched a game together.
You always give me hugs and kisses,
not beatings
to toughen me up.
You taught me to practice school
not sports.
But I'm okay with all of that,
you are not one of the others,
and that's not a fault.
You're build me in unbelievable ways,
you made me,
me.
And for that,
I love you
I call you dad,
because I know you as one.
You've hidden all of your past
to create my future,
I don't know YOU,
but you are amazing.
And for that,
I love you
