Their lives were
Taken.
Their liberties
Gone.
Their families
Forsaken.
They suffered so
Long.
They had
No gender,
No age,
Nor name.
For a Jew’s a
Jew.
All the same.
And the heavy footsteps of Nazi
Soldiers,
The pawns of
"All Mighty Hitler"
The dictator, coward, and mass
Murderer.
“Sieg Heil!” “Sieg Heil!” “Sieg Heil!”
Beat the Jews, ever so
Frail.
Their stomachs
Empty
And air
Stale,
Yet they marched
Onward,
Despite what was laying only a little
Forward.
Mother’s shouts
Children’s cries
As their beloved collapses and
Dies.
Hitler’s
Fears
Had caused these Holocaust
Years
And the shedding of million
Tears.

The author's comments:

During the Holocaust millions of Jews perished in concentration and death camps created by Adolf Hitler. This persecution and genocide is one of the saddest and greatest regrets in history. This poem emphasizes some of the many hardships Jews faced from 1938 through 1945. However, this poem cannot fully illustrate the suffering the Jews endured.
