Cook, Nebraska
Small town in Nebraska.
Where everyone knew everyone.
Children would play all day.
But when they street lights came on,
it was time for a tasty meal.
Steak on the table,
or maybe it was chicken.
Because around here grandpa caught dinner.
Most of the time we were hungry like a pig
and would eat the whole plate!
Then ask for more!
Different people
in different places (like Papillion La Vista).
Different style
and different dress codes at school.
Great towns can go their separate ways though.
Like joining towns together.
This would mean no more silent nights,
no more dressing up in our great grandma’s old and raggedy dresses,
and playing “babies” with the other kids.
People define a place.
Cook, Nebraska,
is a place where I should be.
