Our Songs
Your songs can be heard from
your minute olive cottage perched
on the hill to the West of me.
A sound more flawless and comforting
than ten blue birds waking in the morning sun,
a tune brings a familiar glowing warmth
deep in my soul. A classic melody of
green alligators and long neck geese
grows closer as your golf cart rolls
around the neighborhood. The constant whistling of
make believe hymns reminds me how young
the soul of your aged body truly is. Reminiscing
on days of success in my preschool years and
the prize of driving that mesmerizing cart that carried
your rhythm every spring and summer evening
before dusk. Though your carols have become
less frequent as your body has become more frail.
Your voice an everlasting symbol of passion, can
put my most solemn days at ease.
