Poor Sad Mommy
Did you know that young boy?
He was home. He was coloring.
His mind was occupied. The house was cold.
His mother watched silently with a knife.
He never saw seven years old.
Did you see that young boy?
His mother must have been abused,
because she was violent;
Two years ago she was diagnosed a schizo
but the courts remained silent.
Did you listen to that young boy?
Three years ago he was told he couldn’t see his dad
although they loved each other so dear;
She convinced the jury he was unfit -
And her cries seemed so sincere.
Did you care about that young boy?
His father surely did.
Abandoning his work mid-day, he ran
to where the police told him to be.
He never returned to work, however,
and the reason why was on TV.
Did you hear that young boy
As he called his father’s name?
His mother’s stone heart brought him down,
but his dad was somehow to blame;
All that was to be said for the boy is
his father was “clearly insane”.
Did you cry for that young boy?
His father did as well.
The TV showed him, wrists cuffed,
deathly-scared, tears abound,
staring at the lifeless body of his son
as his mother made not a sound.
