My ankles burned as I stood upright
With chipped nails that came to a jagged stop
Palms facing outwards as I was forced to come in contact with things I did not want,
I hear ghostly whispers in my right ear
Heating them with the breathe of undeserved lungs filled with decay and dust
He was ready to snatch a new soul
Ripping at my tinted skin, traces of him written across me in cursive

I needed to go home
My nervous ticks were developing deep in my bones
Making my head move left and right continuously
Machines worked without a plug
I saw duplicate images of him at every corner
Memories haunting me like a phantom as I carefully backtrack on the same route
To get to the other side where I knew my happy place would be waiting with open arms

My training wheels were not able to go as fast as I needed
Chains breaking while my anxiety rose for the occasion
As I was forced to walk on my discolored feet
Leaving my minuscule dignity behind
Along with his rugged hands and bloodshot eyes
