A Ruby in the Rough
I didn't want it to end this way.
Lying down in a hospital bed,
On machines that kept you smiling.
Very sick, but still laughed,
Even when it hurt.
You taught me to see all of the joy
On the brightest or darkest of days.
Unfortunately, the darkness was growing.
Ruby Fern Garrison, such a beautiful and
Unique name that describes you perfectly.
But it is your personality that lives on now,
Your upbeat and glorifying smile, as well.

This poem was written in memory of my grandma who had recently passed away from lung cancer. She had such a strong impact on my life, that it still doesn't feel like she is gone forever. I love you grandma.
