Zombies
Zombies
Zero dark thirty
And I lost my mind
Whereas my body
Soon slowly sunk
Down deep I feel that my
Worries (once buried thoughtfully and respectfully)
Now rise from the dead.
And I’m the one keeping their coffins warm.
The dirt and muck suck me in
Down deep I felt that being
Six feet under was just OVER my head,
And before I could wish I was…
…Dreaming in bed
The earth took me in like smoke drawn from a cigarette
Cause it held that breath
Down deep.
The earth let me singe its lungs
And down deep death did kiss
The ground.
And the earth exhaled.
I was nothing but fading grey whiskers in the wind
Only to maybe meet someone else’s sense
By force of second hand
Cause Lord knows my first hand
Is busy digging out of the graves again.

This was a poem I wrote after waking up from a cold sweat.
