Tracing Steps
I know the scars that rest upon your heart
And the wrinkly lines painted in swirls across your palms
Your mind is a compass
Constantly twirling around
You have no direction in mind, but my feet continue to trace your footsteps
You head stays lowered,
eyes focused on the ground
You can’t see where you’re going, but I’m still around
I hold your compass in my hands
and watch the arrow dart back and forth
we take lefts and then rights as we head into the dark
The thin blades of grass tickle our toes,
and our feet are slowly died green
We have nowhere to be and nowhere to go next
The arrow ticks back and forth
Lefts and rights and then a few more
Our footsteps trail on.
