Ode to an Eulogy
I’m convening this ode
After my passing
The torch didn’t conventionally blow out
It wasn't even my physical being that I let go
Childhood was a short period to be embraced
Everyone opens their clasp at one point
I had grown up before I could have matured
But Memories weren’t lost
I’m writing this to myself
any other consumption is of another perspective
I hope I convey what I lost
that I exude general hope
And to myself
Don't forget to watch the powerlines
They travel as fast and as far as you want
your car is the only way to experience the vastness that the lines offer
The beauty in your mother’s grasp wasn’t forgotten
it was cherished
I hope that you give remembrance to that idea
you can love as much as you were able to

Childhood is a common topic used in many different forms of poetry. The idea is well put in the idea of the portrayal of one's own emotions. This poem is a focus on the want for a connection with the pure emotion of first-person nostalgia as opposed to the literal situations that are normally conveyed in poetic outputs of childhood.
