Iron Gate
Something other than the common fate
Time, it stops at the iron gate
The breeze gushes through the pores of skin
Reveals our bones the cause of sin
Draped in a cloak of white
Until we reap the darkest light
The aftermath of truth and lies
Leaves us with rust inside
We peak with eyes of intent
Hoping for the sweetest scent
Stillness above and below
Except pulses of stiff marrow
Starving bones consumed by sorrow
Know the dying hope of a better tomorrow
Backing away from the iron gate
Filled with grief with love, with hate
How quick a touch can ruin us
Cold and dry and with no trust
Slanted metal and crippled glass
Seeping through our soulless caress
Wounds unhealed seek revenge
For a love that will not be avenged
Picking up pieces to fill the void
A breath of interaction destroyed
We cannot speak
For in our bones lies our sin
They know we cannot go in
Regardless, we meet the common fate
Yearning, to return to the iron gate.

My inspiration came from the struggle we all have within us. I know sounds cheesy, but it is not just one type of struggle for everyone. I wanted to express the beauty and uniqueness of every indivdual. It does not have a certain meaning, whatever it means to the readers, is what I want them to get out of it.
