That's The Way I Am!

Intelligence is dangerous is world of isolation
Where your mind, body, and soul can be forsaken
Where the lingo is contagious
Elders us deem outrageous
All the while trying to remain gracious despite temptation and self-condemnation
Does this place have good Wi-Fi?
See how much time is wasted?
Facing the reality finding ourselves to a true define
Coloring outside the lines, no need for blurred lines
We're resisting traditions, because we live in new conditions
The fact is that our access to our own existence is restricted
It’s never been about survival, when we need a revival
The conditions that we live in, are definitely critical for every individual
We're living in a hell on earth, as I look up at the heavens, I ask myself is this all worth it
The people are physically, mentally, financially, and emotionally hurting
Branded and abandoned, we're under attack, I can barely stand it
Maybe it is an evitable rite of passage that we must go looking for what we already have
Living enigmas, the hole gets bigger, take too much time and you're their prisoner
Boulevards of broken promises and dreams in the land of the free
But what does that mean? Is it a figure of speech or to be taken literally?
Young ‘Merica needs to wake up and start to think of
Resolutions to conflicts that water the eyes and strain the minds
Dressed in a new fashion, Tragic because that’s all that happened
They’re obsessed with the constant madness
I wish we could just grab it and BAM! It’s gone
So let’s have deep, intellectual talks of the time
Color outside the lines
Wave our signs to protest this creative homicide.
Young ‘Merica needs to wake up and start to think of
New ideas and inventions for the future, of course there’ll be bloopers
But we’re young so we’ll make it look cooler, embrace it with humor
Make the rigid, tattered old ways smoother, reconcile the shooter
Boulevards of broken promises and dreams in the land of the free
But what does that mean? Is it a figure of speech or to be taken literally?
Please answer me
But they had me like:
Hey! Can you hear me?
Are you still there?
What happened to you young world?
Where ya been?
So let’s have deep, intellectual talks of the time
Color outside the lines
Wave our signs to protest this creative homicide.

The author's comments:

This piece is a call for young America to wake up and start doing something worthwhile. Today young children and teens are influenced by negative things and we need to open our eyes. This generation needs to make a difference, not tear each other down.
