Pursuing Happiness
I’m tired of the news spitting false prophecy
Telling me Jesus is coming when I’m still here trying to figure out what my personal legend is
You know I take time out of my day to focus on pursuing my happiness
But all this negative flow is blocking my chakra flow
And I can’t concentrate
And ultimately that leaves me with one goal
To pursue a quiet place where I can pursue my happiness
I wanna place laced with candy raindrops and gumdrops
Some place where I can just pop a squat on a rock and pick up a pencil and start writing
Lose myself in the flow of the paper and find myself indulged in my own plot line when I reread what I wrote later
You know what I’m sayin’
I wanna place where I can let go of all this negative energy
And get in touch with some synergy energy
I wanna place where I can learn the universal language and practice my alchemy
I wanna change my nothing into something that’ll change the world
Make a difference
Then maybe my fellow brothers and sisters will have an alibi when the white man shoots them for being African-American
I personally don’t find it fair that I have to suffer hate crimes because I am a minority
But when I lose myself in that one place laced with candy raindrops and gumdrops
I’ll see all my fallen brothers and sisters there, and this time I’ll save them
Tell them not to walk with a hoodie on or not to go down this street
I’ll tell them to write instead because with their experiences
I know they’ll write a book worth waiting a million years for
Then I’ll have their knowledge and somehow in this world I’ll gain the ability to see into the future to save other minorities
And somewhere along the way I’ll go on this pursuit of happiness
And lose myself in a new place
Called Happiness
