Doggerel
We are the doggerel poems,
The ones with no chance,
The ones thrown away,
The ones that you toss into flame.
Looking at us, you see a mistake
Good for nothing, just a waste
Wouldn't think, to give us a chance
But there's more to us than that.
Someone will find us someday
And dig us out of the trash.
Snatch us out of the fire
Just before we are completely lost,
And see not just the words on our page
But what we had intended to say
So until that day...
We'll lie in the trash,
And burn in the ash,
For we, are the doggerel poems.
