a topic to think about on starry nights
fly, kid
reach for the stars
and if you ever get one
could you tell me what it smells like
is it cinnamon
is it warm laundry and sunshine
is it cold metal and tears
is it like love
does it smell like something
that's been sitting alone in the dark for thousands,
millions of years
thinking about whether it could cry
not not, just
if it ever wanted to
and tell me
whether they were happy
because a star's happiness is like gold
or maybe, something even more valuable
maybe it's something that could make us feel
that everything we've discovered up until now
is completely irrelevant
and we can start anew today
