a green bird in winter
sat alone
chirping
until the night fell
the cold wind chill
always swept the bird off it's feet
a startling discovery
yet refreshing
a lamp post flickered
off into the distance
until light gave way
and darkness engulfed the world
as a leaf blew from street corner
to street corner
the world was a quiet abyss
there was nothing
but a green bird in winter

This poem was inspired by a cold winter day, and the loneliness that can be associated with it.
