Pressure Cooker
Each breath I take is a constant battle for air
Sharply
Shrapnels of scent hit my nostrils
They flare and as the room blurs
The sweat forms at the tip of my brow
The walls squeeze, moved from the foundations
The voices
The expectant, curious questions
The deadlines
The long list of to-dos
to-be's
the dreams
Like cling wrap they shrink closer
Until finally, stuck on my
Tied up like pork rind
Seasoned with too much salt
And a careless hand that sprinkled too much spice
Coughing and choking on the steam
Broiling and boiling it gets hotter
The air is trapped, but begging to escape
No circulation
No chance of seeing the sun
Take me out before I overcook
