Ban List Banter
BAN LIST BANTER
I
Picking up the binder that at one time
had been so important to me
I opened it up and see all of them
the pictures with the bright colors
of all the things to be nostalgic about
this was something I could look at for hours.
II
After rummaging around for a few hours
i'm overcome with a sense of joy
that day, I received a text from my friend, Jesse
asking if i still had them, of course i did
eventually, Jordan, Drew and Greg
became interested as well.
III
Taking it to the next level of competition
we all invested time and money
into developing the basis of our new hobby
except Drew, because he’s a broke boy
every Friday and Saturday we competed
For glory, bragging rights, and of course fun.
IV
None of us ever took it to an actual regional competition
which always sort of bothered me, because we were good
I was in contention to first but I was happy being second
the weekend and summer nights were filled with
long hours of winning, losing, trash talk and rage
which was why i liked it so much
V
The snarky yet witty remarks from Jordan,
the nonchalant and carefree attitude from Drew,
the quiet, precise execution of moves from Greg,
the constant rage and complaining from Jesse,
and myself, the one who hates to lose and wants to be the best,
it was a perfect blend of what Greg would call “Banter”.
VI
Times had to change however, for after November 8th 2015
my dreams and hopes had died almost instantaneously.
I was betrayed, by Konami, my precious Nekroz
completely diminished to almost nothing.
It was time to make a change, I needed a new archetype
I had a love for dragons and interesting abilities, so i went to Dragunity.
VII
Dragunity was a tier four deck, which is really low
compared to everyone else's archetypes, but could
in fact, be destined for greatness
with new support coming out little by little
and new engines to test, this deck could be meta
I swore I would stay with it until the very end.
