the busy world

the busy world, always occupied, surrounds me; I am not quite here
not quite in the yesterday of my mind,
now, nor ever, for that matter
my house is so often occupied by unexpected guests
embarrassing because I never clean
can barely speak
embarrassing to look a stranger in the eye
I have finally told my secret
but I do not feel relieved;
now I must decide what to do,
it is hard to tell if I am reasonable,
do they believe me?
