Not all poetry has to rhyme.
In fact, I think the most beautiful poems are the ones that don’t
they don’t need it to grab your attention
their raw honesty is captivating enough.

Not all boys are stupid
of course i thought so
but then i met you
and you proved me wrong

Not all girls are picture perfect
any girl who says so is lying (except Beyonce)
at least that’s what I tell myself
since I am most definitely not flawless

Not all relationships are ideal
sometimes your perfect person
Isn’t right next door
or even in your town

Sometimes I’m not easy to be around
and I don’t know how to be vulnerable
so I might be complicated and confusing
please forgive me for that

Sometimes I’m not here
and no matter what you do
you won’t be able to pull me back in
I’m sorry for that to

Sometimes you’re all I need
your laughter is my medicine
and your eyes are fascinating
I could write twelve more poems about them alone

Sometimes I see myself in you
but only the good parts
kindness and compassion and joy
with none of my bitterness to counteract

But I Always feel content with you
you’re the calm in my storm
a smooth melody
in the midst of my chaos

I Always feel safe
in your arms nothing hurts
when you call me yours
nobody else matters

I Always want to hear your heartbeat
it’s steadiness is like an anchor
reminding me you’re real
and close enough for me to hear

I will Always care for you
and no matter what happens
I love you, every part
thorns and all.
