Anticipation of a child
When will it be my turn to go over the rainbow?
When will I get the spotlight and applause?
Why can’t I be a superhero, with super strength?
Why can’t I fly to the stars?
When will my soul mate show up?
When will I see through the mist?
Why can’t I begin to train?
Why can’t I finish my list?
All the things I wonder, I’m stuck at ‘ready, set-‘.
All the answers I want, and all I get is “you’re not ready yet.”
