Not Anymore
The obsession of wanting something
Corrupts our mind.
Distracts us from what really matters,
Family, friends, and loved ones.
Like a fly buzzing in your ear,
We become overwhelmed.
With the need of gaining money and power
We lose sight of what is important.
The pressure of staying financially stable, ends up
Destroying us.
We lose the ability to genuinely smile.
We don't smile.
Not anymore.
Yet, we still torture ourselves,
Blinded by the idea that with money and power
We will be happy.
At the end of the struggle to reach stability
We lose everything that truly was worth fighting for
Like sand slipping through your fingers.
Everything goes away.
We stop smiling,
We don't smile,
Not anymore.
