We all have scars
From our past wars
And each one reminds us
of how our hearts were torn

But yours aren’t the same
They’re etched into your mind
Permanently reminding you
Of that tragic time.

No matter how
hard I try,
I cannot erase

Mine are big slices
from a small metal blade,
with all of the blood
the pain faded away.

Yours are sealed in
condensed and hidden
with the words of loss, pain and sorrow,
floating within.

I simply cannot erase

But together we can
throw their words down the drain.
Forget all
the sorrow, the loss, the pain.

As we say goodbye
to the troubles from the past,
we can open our hearts
to each other at last.

Though our scars are scratched in
to impenetrable walls,
we can hide them and forget
once and for all.
