Grandpa
I remember every memory, don't you see,
do you even remember me?
The way we were laughing and talking,
like nothing would ever happen.
Then the day came when you left
you left us crying, our hearts breaking
no one that day could have been faking.
Although the memories kept us smiling,
the tears streaming down; meant we were crying.
Our lives go on but our hearts remain with you
Your life was crazy just like a zoo.
Our memories may not be old,
but your heart was pure as gold.
Do you even care,
I realize that this is not your burden to bare.
Every time you're mentioned tears start to well,
the memories surface and I remember the bell.
The bell that said your life was over,
but your soul, well that's never gone.
Do you miss me, miss us, your past
Your life may have passed but the memories stay.
Even after the end of our days.
The lives you've touched, even through pain
Will never know how much your heart and soul truly sang.
