Not a Through Street
What befalls a man destined for something more
Faltered by chance, that cursed wheel
Turns freedom into shackles, bound by circumstance
The life he had envisioned, a failed romance
What befalls a man destined for something great
Sheltered by optimism, that lying light
Turns futures into promises, blinded by conceit
The road he has taken, not a through street

I thought about it, and it scared me too, so I wrote this poem to communicate this fear.
