A Rainy Day
Looking out my window I thought to myself,
“There is nothing worse than a rainy day.”
To feel the cold drops fall down from the sky.
And hear the pitter patter of the drops hitting the pavement,
Making the world seem empty as you hear the echoes.
But then I remembered how I spent rainy days.
Splashing in puddles and running under trees,
Waiting for the sun to dry up all my fun.
Rainy days brought with them imagination and joy.
They created a wonderland that existed only for a moment.
The rain was no longer cold;
It warmed my skin as they momentarily met.
And the sounds were not empty,
But a symphony to a little girl in yellow rubber boots.
And as I was walking around in this rain storm,
Older now in the dull grey world,
I couldn't help myself from swinging my foot
And splashing a puddle
To feel that joy again.
