Conscious Dreaming
When the world is silent
And I’m lying in my bed
My mind begins to spark
Imagination starts to spread
It reaches high into the night
And my spirit lifts and soars
I watch the stars surround me
And I smell the distant shores
The ocean laps the sand
And the breeze drifts idly by
I smile as I look from far above,
Hanging in the navy painted sky
Now I’m walking down a street
As rain patters on my clothes
The night is dreary and dark
Yet my smile grows and grows
My eyes light up again
As I stand among-st the flowers
The sun slowly creeping up
To join me in these early morning hours
But when I open up my dreamy eyes
I have come to find
That these places were not real
They only existed in my mind
But now can you see?
The reason I do not sleep
My own creation is much better
Than the dreams my subconscious would seek

I wrote this piece really late at night after I woke up from a bad dream. It was mainly written to calm me down and help me fall back asleep.
