I am the sunflower basking
in the sunlight of my mother’s backyard
Surrounded by all the vibrant, lively flowers
It’s radiance I will always remember
The flowers made the backyard
my escape to expel my feelings
My mood would change at the
slightest touch of the cool, lavish grass

We laughed at my dad
there was no more space
on the camera roll
The backyard made that time bright
it made my childhood livid
so many adventures awaited me
However just like the flowers I grew
