You stare at him in disbelief, although you are not surprised

Because your father has had countless health problems before

Such as asthma attacks, shattered toes, and an exploding temper

That lashed out at you to the point of where 

You decided to move away from the man four years earlier,- 

Which all recollects in a depressed man lying in a hospital bed 

On the third floor in room 300- 

The most important man in your life is staring at you

With haunted eyes and everything you loved about him growing up is all gone 

And it all happened so fast that you shoved it all aside

It baffles you that seeing his body strapped by tubes and an oxygen mask is what puts tears in your eyes 

and disorganized your thoughts

All you can really ask about the situation was

"What happened?"
