Where I’m From
I’m from two cultures of opposite origins.
From completely different sides of the world.
I’m from a large city in Texas with a family full of personalities.
I’m from a quaint town in Nigeria with too many relatives to name.
I’m from playing games on warm, summer nights with the kids in my neighborhood.
I’m from plaid uniforms and pigtails.
From getting in trouble for staying up late reading books cover to cover.
I’m from a family of believers in hard work and determination.
From being terrified of dogs to begging my parents for one.
I’m from a stomach full of butterflies at each piano recital.
From playing volleyball to coaching it.
I’m from perseverance.
I’m from doing things people didn’t think I’d be able to do.
I’m from a variety of unique and irreplaceable memories that make me, me.
