Where I'm From
I’m from the hopeful parents of a firstborn
I’m from moving from one house to two apartments at the same time
I’m from having a new house, a new mom, and two new siblings
I’m from having two Christmases and two birthdays
I’m from itchy green school uniforms and hour long recesses
I’m from supportive parents as I hit a ball off of a tee
I’m from a twelve hour car ride to meet the new family I did not know I had
I’m from silly sports goggles and crying when my parents tried to cut my hair
I’m from a new house and mustang as the new school mascot
I’m from the noisy recorder and an irritated family
I’m from cheating in keyboarding and getting a D in art
Trying new sports I was bad at
I’m from the disappointment of a C on a report card
I’m from the proud scream of my mom when I made the baseball team
And the disappointment of my dad not showing up
The embarrassment of tripping on my shoelace and breaking my wrist
And sad parents when I stopped playing the sport I did for so long
And hopeful parents of the future to come
