Where I come from
I come from small pueblos in the south
Where the houses are small and the grass grows tall
Where the dogs run stray and there’s no bills to pay
I come from two distinct families
One that’s poor and one that’s rich
One that has all the luxuries
While the other has farm animals to feed
I come from a mom that was aggressive
A mom that shows no fear and has had many fights
A mom that shows her love but is strict at times
I come from a dad that isn’t easy to talk to
A dad that yells more often than he smiles
A dad that I can only talk with about soccer
I come from a place where soccer is my outlet
A place where running with the ball makes me happy
Where the ball is my best friend and understands me
My parents wanted a better life for me
We traveled from the south to a new country
Entered through the land of the stars
And ended up in the county of the rich
I come from a place where my family is sometimes dysfunctional
Where my family is a mixture of greed and humbleness
I come from one place but I was influenced by many places
