Where I'm From
I’m from a happy start laying in a dark mirage.
I’m from perfect beaches to the contrasting world of Virginia.
I’m from beginning days of laughter when nothing on this planet mattered to me
I’m from the time when I was too young to know what was happening.
I’m from first days of school when I met my first friend.
I’m from short days at home where I felt safe and free
I’m from a great childhood that I wish I could have back
I’m from a life where everything felt fake.
I’m from a cruel world thinking I was different but never could understand
I’m from new friends that I thought I would be with forever
I’m from a depressed sister that didn’t want me to be like her, so I tried my hardest not to.
I’m from a place where I couldn’t let anyone know how I feel, not even myself.
I’m from parents that didn’t understand what depression was.
I’m from long nights with my sibling making sure she was okay.
I’m from days of fake smiles and an unknowing mind.
I’m from a time where I was finally old enough to fully understand
I’m from high school where it’s got me the most.
I’m from long days of school and cruel nights at home.
I’m from a girl who knows how I feel and makes my smile real, a girl who makes me feel real.
I’m from my mind where I know that everything will be okay.
