You might need glasses
Those eyes told her she must be excellent at math
Those eyes said he must like soccer
Those eyes said she must be stupid
Those eyes suggested they all love watermelon
Those eyes accused him of being a terrorist
Those eyes really said he looked like one.
Those eyes stated he must be doing drugs
Those eyes announced she must be Spanish.
Those eyes…
I hate those eyes.
Those eyes are only able to see what’s on the surface.
Do they really think they have some form of x-ray vision
That allows them to penetrate and read the personality of a human
Do they think they can just violate their inner thoughts
By just giving them a glance
And can automatically find the exact definition
Of what those people choose to define
As themselves.
Those eyes don’t see she hates math
Those eyes don’t see that he despises soccer
Those eyes don’t notice that she has had straight A’s the last 4 years.
Those eyes don’t realize that he’s never seen a bomb in his life.
Those eyes thought they saw with clear vision
They were wrong
Their eyes were clouded over by rumors and lies
That they’ve heard throughout their lives.
They were blinded by words of others that were far from true
If you ever think like those eyes
I suggest you get glasses
To fix your blurry vision.
