He Will Be Missed
As the first bell of the day rang and the last student took their seat
Came a message from the intercom, It was short but far from sweet.
Just the late name of someone, often, lost somewhere within the midst
And a simple message saying one thing only
“He will be missed.”
The funeral was on Friday and the students formed a line,
To say their first hellos to him and leave with their last goodbye.
They said that they will miss him, wished that they would’ve been much closer.
His mother nodded, knowing, their words were simply for self-closure.
Messages online, “Rest in peace”, is what the children liked to type,
Posting solely to appear caring and to make good of the hype.
Secretly they said “He was crazy”, but they barely knew his name
And for the state of mind he held, they never accepted any blame.
To see those children as deceptive may appear to be too blunt,
But someone with a clear conscience, has no need for a false front.
The kids said he would never do it, wanting be proven wrong
He had tried to ignore the thoughts, but awake, the nights just seemed so long
For every person he blamed he had made a cut upon his wrist
The same people now at his funeral saying
“He will be missed.”
