A Year of Everything

The first month is as easy as walking.

It’s a soft yellow, and it’s full of
syllabuses and seemingly simple subjects.
It’s easy peasy lemon squeezy

Month Two gets a little harder.
It’s bright orange.
Homecoming and Homework.
Halloween and Happiness.

Month three reminds you why you hate school.
It’s a brown
Hard tests and Helplessly horrendous sleep schedules.
It’s Tech Week and a countdown to Thanksgiving.
Nine week exams and a Never ending supply of homework

Month four is what keeps you alive.
Red and Green twinkle lights.
Movie month and Mellifluous Christmas music.
Ugly Christmas Sweaters and a unanimous hatred for homework
between students and teachers.

Month 5 is what almost kills you.
It’s dark gray and coated in white snow.
Break time is over and the Balance of your life is destroyed.
Midterms and Many hours of your life are wasted studying.
Nervous Breakdowns will ensue.

Month 6 is a new life.
Pink and Rosy.
New classes mean new beginnings.
New topics, new teachers, and new grades.
Hopeful and Romantic,
you can always make it out alive.

Month 7 is forgettable
muddy brown and irrelevant
You fly through this month
Dreaming of spring and Dying to see the end.
Just working on busywork to get by.

Month 8 is everything
Vibrant green and ready for anything
it’s your taste of summer.
Spring break and savvy homework strategies.
Summer summer summer

Month 9 and you’re barely alive
Dark gray and lonely
Trodding through school once step at a time.
Swamped with tests and homework.
Your life is like a spinning ride at the fair.

Month 10 is what you’ve dreamed of.
Electric blue and charged with life.
You can make it out alive.
You’re so close to being finished you can taste it
It’s just grazing your fingertips.
