Please Hate Me
How did it all turn out so very simple,
Yet so horribly complex?
You’ve dug yourself a hole in pity so deep
That there isn’t any left
Those criminal, clever eyes,
A colour I can’t even describe,
Disguise lies that have cut me open,
Caused me to bleed every last drop
Of sweetness, of tenderness, of sympathy
Yet I still wear these glasses
That filter you,
That turn you into who you once were,
They turn your rudeness into compassion
They turn your cold heart into warm laughs
And gentle, genuine smiles
I want you to curse at me,
I need you to hate me
Scar me with your words,
Etch them into my brain,
My skin, my everything
Just take away the love I still have for you somewhere
Just please take it away
