Cup Noodles
My stomach thunders
It feels so empty
How long has it been
Since I last had something to eat…
I make my way to the kitchen
Opening cupboards as I head to my pantry
They’re full
Of dusty cobwebs
Mum forgot to go shopping
Again
I gaze into the pantry
Only a sad, red and white foam cup
Of fake, stale ramen
Stares back
The kettle screams
I seize my foam cup
from it’s perch on the coffee table
Ripping off the paper lid
I pour the scalding liquid
Into the cup
3 more minutes
I pick up the foam cup
The bottom falls to the floor
Another meal of powdered sugar

I wrote this last year in a creative writing class and I thought, "eh, why not." So, I wrote this and it turned out fairly nicely. Though, if you ask me, it's a tad bit depressing. sometimes that's what makes a poem memorable though. I hope that a publisher of some kind sees my poem and enjoys it, I'd be rather baffled if anyone actually saw this let alone a publisher though.
